If the data in the flash memory device is not stable, then the memory controller continuously rewrites data to the flash memory device until the data is stable. This continuous rewriting of data increases the wear on the flash memory cells of the flash memory device. In the prior art, the memory controller continuously writes data to a flash memory device while determining whether the data in the memory device is stable. A problem with such prior art methods and devices is that the data from the flash memory device is continuously written to the host system. The present invention solves the problems of the prior art.
